Hey folks! Sorry for the lack of upkeep here; I've gone back to school and have had other things on my plate. (I am now officially a broke college student! ...Again!) I'll get to everyone as soon as I can, though!

In the mean time, here's a nice, big, complicated pattern I've been meaning to post for a while. Meant to post it last month, but, well, stuff.

But first, as is traditional, pictures!

And a closeup of its face:

The tail should have a slight natural curve. If you choose to attach the tail to the body before making the tail underside, make sure you leave enough room that you can still crochet in the round of free loops.

Tail underside (complete tail first)
Row 1: Start in the free loops 8 away from the last sc in the belly; sc 5
Row 2 thru 4: Dc 5
Row 5: Dc 2, dc 2 tog, dc 1

Row 12 thru 15: Dc 3
Row 16: Dc 2 tog, dc 1
Row 17 thru 20: Dc 2
Row 21: Dc 2 tog
Finish
If you have not yet done so, attach the tail to the rear of the body just above where the tail underside is crocheted in. Sew the tail underside to the tail up and down its free edges.

Toes (make 6)

Legs (make 2; DO NOT STUFF COMPLETELY)
Round 1: Begin in the round; Sc 6; continue in a spiral
Round 2: Dc 12 (dc 2 in 1 x 6)
Round 3: Dc 18 ([dc 2 in 1, dc 1] x 6)
Round 4: Dc 24 ([dc 2 in 1, dc 2] x 6)

Stuff only enough so the legs are slightly filled out; they should be concave to fit closely around the body.

Fingers (make 4; make claws first)
Round 1: Begin in the round; Sc 6; continue in a spiral
Round 2, 3: Dc 6
Round 4: Sc, sl st for a smooth finish
Finish
Using the tails from the claws, tie them onto the ends of the fingers so the claw points out and the tails are inside.

Round 1: Begin in the round; Sc 6; continue in a spiral
Round 2, 3: Dc 6
Round 4: Dc 12 (dc 2 in 1 x 6)

Round 17: Sc, sl st for a smooth finish
Finish
Sew the two free fingers on either side of the first "bump"; you may wish to sew one more to the "inside" than the other to make it more thumb-like. Sew the "shoulders" to either side of Charizard's neck, right where it starts to widen into the body, with the elbows bowed out.

Row 10: [Tc 1, dc 1] in 1, dc 9; ch 2 to turn
Row 11: Dc 10, [dc 1, tc 1] in 1; ch 3 to turn
Row 12: [Tc 1, dc 1] in 1, dc 11; ch 2 to turn
Row 13: Dc 12, [dc 1, tc 1] in 1; ch 3 to turn
Row 14: [Tc 1, dc 1] in 1, dc 11, dc 2 in 1; ch 4 to turn
Row 15: Sc 3, sl st into wing
Finish
Attach Wing Panel 1 to Wing Panel 2 at the sides opposite their narrowest points/ends. Make sure that the "longer" point of Wing Panel 1 is at the same end as the wing knob at the end of Wing Panel 2 (Panel 2 should curve downward from the knob).

Wired wings instructions:
Take some thick wire and measure it out along the inside upper joints of the wings and to the top of the knob; add another ~5"/12.5cm to the end. Cut the wire. Plunge it through Charizard's body right behind its shoulders. Make sure the wire is at an even length on either side of Charizard's body, then loop the wire around a stitch or two in both places it emerges from the body. Thread the wire through the top inside joints of the wings and the little knob at the top; fold the wire over the top of the knob.

Using a tapestry needle, double up a long length of yarn and thread it through so there you are sewing with four pieces of yarn. Starting where the wire goes into Charizard's wings on either side of the body, sew around the wire and the top of the wings/over the knob to cover the wire completely. Cut the yarn only after doubling back and pulling it under several loops of yarn – at least an inch/2cm.

Tail flame: Use strips of yellow and red yarn about 7"/17.5cm long and attach them in a fringe method to the end of Charizard's tail. When you've got a good amount of yarn on the tail, brush it out with a slicker brush. Cut and groom to shape; use of white glue to add spikes to the end is optional.
