Sorry, lack of clarity on my part. You start in the round; there's several ways of doing this, from ch 3 and doing all 6 sc in the first ch, to a magic ring (my preferred method), to ch 4 and sl st into the first ch to make a chain ring and sc around that, and probably more besides. I've got some tutorials linked here where you can learn more about how to do that, if you like.
