I know I said I was only going to post once a month, in order to preserve by pattern backlog a little, but then I found out that June is Adopt A Shelter Cat Month within two days of having finished this cutie, and I figured, why shouldn't our favorite ectobiological mutant feline speak out on behalf of shelter cats?





Adorable, isn't he? And now you can make your own, too!
What you need to know for this pattern: US stitch names; crocheting in the round (in a spiral); single crochet (sc); double crochet (dc); increasing ([stitch] 2 in 1); decreasing ([stitch] 2 tog); slip stitch (sl st).
Sizing information: I used a size H/5.0mm hook and worsted weight yarn for a gauge of 4 dc/inch (2.5 cm).

Round 1: Begin in the round; Dc 12; continue in a spiral
Round 2: Dc 18
Round 3: Dc 27 ([dc 2 in 1, dc 1] x 9)
Round 4: Dc 36 ([dc 2 in 1, dc 2] x 9)
Round 5: Dc 46 (dc 6, dc 2 in 1 x 5, dc 13, dc 2 in 1 x 5, dc 7)
Round 6: Dc 46 (dc 1 in 1 all around)
Round 7: Dc 28 (dc 7, skip 9, dc 14, skip 9, dc 7) [Skip 9: Figure 1, Figure 2]
Round 8: Dc 24 ([dc 5, dc 2 tog] x 4)

Sew the sides of the openings together starting from the main part of the head and moving out so the end in a point. (Fig 1, Fig 2)
Ears (make 2)
Round 1: Begin in the round; Sc 6; continue in a spiral
Round 2: Dc 9 (dc 2, dc 2 in 1 x 3, dc 1)
Round 3: Dc 12 (dc 3, dc 2 in 1 x 3, dc )
Finish
Fold the ears flat so the edges of the open side line up evenly. Attach to the head one row north of the cheek points with the short side towards the top of the head and slightly concave.
