Not long ago, I got sucked into the extremely strange and slightly horrifying world of Awful Hospital. It's, uh. Well, I enjoy it? But if blood, guts, medical trauma, medical abuse, child illness and endangerment, unsanitary situations, and general existential horror (among other things) are squicks or triggers for you, you may want to give it a miss. (I swear it's still somehow wholesome and fun! Partly from the cartoony way it's drawn, partly from the writing and the characters themselves. Just, uh, be aware.)

Anyway, Mitchell the floamzoner, AKA "Blob Dad" showed up close to strip/layer number 900, and someone in the comments mentioned that he'd make a cute plush. What the heck, I figured; why not! I had to wait until I finished Gritty to get to work (official charity commissions first), but having finished crocheting Mitchell, I have to agree with the commenter: He makes a darn cute plush!

Oh, and for any of you worried about the long list of warnings up there? I promise, his crocheted pictures are 100% safe (and the strip I linked above is probably 95% safe as well).

And now for the pattern )

If you like this pattern—or even if you don't—and are comfortably able to do so, please consider donating to Native American Covid 19 relief funds! Native American communities have been among the hardest hit by Covid, with little to no government aid.

Here are a couple of donation options:

Navajo/Diné and Hopi Covid 19 Relief Fund

Pueblo Relief Fund

But first, Some puns! )

Seriously, though: With Covid-19 going on over the past year, public aquariums have had to close their doors for the safety of their patrons, their staff, and even some of their charges and/or exhibits. While many have opened their doors again, at least in a limited capacity, some still remain closed, and I predict that number will only go back up with cases on the rise again.

I am offering this pattern for free until it is safe for public aquariums to open their doors again. If you like this pattern and are comfortably able to do so, please consider donating to a public aquarium so they can keep things running and their animals and people safe.

If you’re in the US and you want to donate as locally as possible, I’m sure that [profile] noaasanctuaries can help you figure out which facility is closest to you! And if you’re outside the US, I’m reasonably sure they can still help point you to someone who can help 😉

If you just want some quick links without the hassle of actually talking to anyone, though, here’s a few:

National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium (This one is the closest to me!)

Monterey Bay Aquarium

New England Aquarium

Florida Aquarium

Waikiki Aquarium

Download links for the pattern are below:

UK Stitch Terms

Please spread this around, and feel free to link to the aquariums you love when you do! Zoos and museums are also great!

I'm appalled at how long it's been since I've made a charity offer. Appalled, I tell you!

We are accepting donations (please contact the mods via PM for more details) & are also running an auction as follows:

The auction will open for offers on Thursday, July 5.

All auctions will open for bids on Thursday, July 12.

Over 900 people in Mindanao, Philippines, have died in the floods that Typhoon Sendong (local name)/Washi (international name) just days before Christmas. Hundreds more are missing.

Please help us in putting together donations for these people who desperately need your help.

Well, you know me; I'm always eager to help out a good cause. I know money might be a little tight since a number of big holidays just ended, but please do consider taking a look around. Or maybe offer something yourself!

If nothing else, please spread the word. The community itself is in an S2 stile, comments likewise, so LJ's new default comment form shouldn't be a problem.

My customary offer is up here [CLOSED].

[livejournal.com profile] fandomaid has a fandom auction set up for relief in Somalia, which is currently suffering a horrible drought, famine, and a cholera outbreak. My offer is up here [CLOSED]. If you like my work, please consider making a bid for my services.

Hey folks :) I wanted to have a new pattern up today, but unfortunately my life has dissolved into a hot mess. I need to move out of my apartment by noon tomorrow, and open the registration desk for AnimeIowa by sometime tonight. Between the two of them, those tasks have me almost completely occupied.

If I get a spare hour or two, I'll try and see if I can't get the pattern up anyway. Otherwise, well, I'll either see you next month, or at AnimeIowa.

For those of you who can make it there: I'll be running the panel Plushie Madness at 5:00 pm Friday. I'll be at the con all weekend, wearing this and handing out flyers for the Brain Slug Party. Hope to see you there!

Edit: I'm officially back and more-or-less recovered from AnimeIowa! Special thanks to everyone who stopped to admire (or buy! :O) my work, who showed up at my panel or just asked questions, and everyone who showed up in general. I've got some unpacking to do after my move, but I'm hoping to get the "Lemonsnout" (officially: small scalemate) pattern up later this evening or tomorrow.

On an unrelated note, a friend of mine from a feminist blog I follow is selling bearded dragon amigurumi with 50% of all profits going to benefit live bearded dragons in rescues. Please stop by if you're interested in helping animals in sticky situations. [Content Note] for some discussion of people being jerks to animals.

This is a custom pattern commissioned for [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan; the winner requested Kumano 900 from the band U900, seen here on YouTube. [WARNING for the bunny, whose design is, quite frankly, racist; it's the bear I'm making, but I felt it best to warn.]

A [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan pattern! Not the custom pattern (I'm still working on that one), but a pattern from one of the custom amigurumi I offered to make. I've gotten confirmation from all of my bidders now (yay!), but only requests from two, and now I've, uh. Finished one already ._.a See, inspiration took hold, and would not let me go, so. Uh. ...Look, I'm really tempted to make some sort of "pony express" joke here, but history jokes are better left in the hands of the master herself, so I'll just do some linkdropping and get to pattern posting.

From Hark! A Vagrant: You may remember the Shetland Pony?
Pony Hitman
Shetland
In Service of the King
Pony Prince
Pony Returns
Pony Meets a Ghost

Yeah, one of my winning bidders requested that :Db

And now, back to work on the custom pattern! *Rosie the Riveter pose*
hooked_on_anime: Three chain stitches in blue yarn; pink crochet hook being maneuvered by green arrow into first stitch. (Starting from a chain)
The first round of auctions at [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan has closed. There were four winners in total, which means up to four new patterns to go up on this blog, and that much more aid to Pakistan. I am planning to sign up for the second round, which is coming up in about a week, though I don't yet know exactly what I will be offering. (Well, aside from two specific things, which I am attempting to keep slightly under wraps for the moment...) I suppose it'll depend on when the product deadline is.

Anyhow, patterns that are definitely coming:
* Kumano 900 from U900
* The fat pony from Hark! A Vagrant

Will there be others? Well, not necessarily for this round. I'll find out for certain as the other winners contact me.

Look forward to a pattern for Buu-chan, AnimeIowa's mascot, in the near future; I finished him up on Saturday, so there's no conflict of interest, yay \o/
hooked_on_anime: Three chain stitches in blue yarn; pink crochet hook being maneuvered by green arrow into first stitch. (Starting from a chain)
[livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan is a mostly fandom-oriented charity bidding community set up to offer relief to Pakistan from the recent flooding. My threads are up over here (finished amigurumi) and here (custom pattern) [AUCTION CLOSED].

If you have ever wanted one of the amigurumi I've made, whether the pattern is up here or not, I would like to urge you to put in a bid over there. In fact, I'd recommend you look around everywhere, in case you might see something you want. Pakistan is in desperate need of help, and this is a great way to do it.

Edit: Bidding closes when this clock runs out. There will be a second round of bids and offers in about a week, which I also plan to participate in, so if this round was bad timing for you, you've got another chance on the horizon.

Okay, let's get this done! It's only, what. Five days after I'd said I'd have this up at a more coherent time? I'm totally more coherent now.

I also found Kero-chan's pattern, and now have multiple copies, so expect that up soon-ish!

Happy stitching :)

Hello all, I'm back from Real Life :) Er, well, more-or-less. Met a bunch of fantastic people at AnimeIowa, where I was a total egomaniac ^^a Had a blast with everyone. An extra hello and also internet hugs (if wanted) to anyone I met there ♥

I'll be putting up Burupya's pattern at a more coherent hour (I'm currently pretending it's not ~3:30 AM in my time zone), and Kero-chan's will be following just as soon as I find out where I put it and type it up -_-a At least I kept Kero-chan, so I can roughly work the pattern out backwards from him...

In the mean time, here's me blatantly showing off some preview pictures of the projects to come :3b

Burupya/Mikage from 07-Ghost )

Kero-chan from Cardcaptor Sakura )

Anyhow, I'm off to either get some sleep, or dig around some more to try and find Kero-chan's pattern. We'll see what I feel more like doing. Once again, Burupya's to come later today. Hearts to all!
